Chapter 182: Into The Sea

Chapter 182: 182: Into The Sea

The horse came to an abrupt stop as soon as they arrived at the cliff.

They knew they couldn’t move any further with the dead end before them.

Eden gasped at the sight of the cliff as Felix looked back. The soldiers were on their way, marching on their horses while approaching them faster than expected.

"Oh, we’re so dead," Eden muttered as he stared back at the approaching soldiers.

"What do we do, Master?" Felix asked.

"I don’t know either," Eden said. "I’m also in a dead end here."

They stared back while watching the soldiers approach. Lenny could only move backward bit by bit. There was nowhere else to turn.

"Do you think we could surrender? You seem close to that guy... maybe he won’t kill us," Felix speculated.

Eden scoffed. "Close my foot. He’ll have our heads the moment he gets us."

Eden turned and stared at the cliff. "I think we could just jump off. It’s a sea, so we will probably fall into it...."

"You think?!" Lenny questioned. "We’ll probably die if we do that!"

"We will be dead too if they get us. At least that’s a sure death. But if we fall into the sea... at least we still have a chance to live," Eden explained.

"So you’re suggesting we jump into heaven knows where...?" Lenny questioned.

"Yes. We don’t have time, so... let’s just do something fast," Eden said.

"Or we could just fight them off...?" Felix suggested.

Eden knew he wasn’t up for any fight now. He still didn’t know what came over him the last time he tried fighting, so fighting wasn’t on his list now.

"We’re not doing that at all. We’re retiring," Eden said.

"But I think I can fight them off," Felix said confidently.

The soldiers were almost close.

"Surrender now! You have nowhere else to run to!" the soldier yelled from their distance when they attacked.

The horse pulled back, almost at the cliff side. There was no other place to be.

"Aren’t you guys jumping?!" Eden questioned.

"I don’t know about that..." Felix hesitated.

Eden sighed. He shook his head and said, "I don’t think I can do this with you guys. I have to live."

Eden said this and immediately jumped off the horse.

Shocked, Felix and Lenny turned to see Eden flying off the horse and off the cliff.

They blinked in shock, taking a while to digest the fact that Eden was flying through the air and into the sea now.

"What the hell..." Lenny muttered.

Felix didn’t think twice; he too jumped off the horse and flew into the sea.

Lenny was left, but soon morphed back into a cat as he flew off into the sea as well.

Soon, the three of them had jumped into the middle of the sea in that deep evening, a splash of water heard as they fell...

Silence.

The soldiers were now at the cliff, and their leader came down from the horse. He stood at the cliff while looking down into the sea.

There was no sign of them anywhere.

"I think they disappeared..." a soldier said, standing beside him.

"There’s no sign of them in there," another said.

"I think we should go and report it?"

"Let’s camp here for a while and monitor the scene. And also go down and search around to make sure they didn’t hide anywhere else," the soldier ordered.

The soldier nodded. "Sure."

And so they sent some men down to look around the place and see if they would find any sign of Eden, Felix, or Lenny, who had jumped into the sea that had grown quiet now.

********

THE ROYAL PALACE.

Crown Prince Elvis had returned on his royal duty with his father.

They were welcomed in a grand manner by the two Queens, Prince Lysander, and some other nobles who came around.

As Elvis walked into the palace, he was rather surprised that he didn’t see Eden around.

He expected to see him come around to welcome him or so, since he knew Eden was the type to be hyper about most things.

But there was no sign of Eden anywhere, even though he saw Lysander—which was strange to him.

He later excused himself after having some royal discussions with the King and some nobles, and so he headed to Eden’s bedroom.

Elvis pushed open the door and walked in, but the room was empty. There was no one there. No Eden.

He hesitated and looked around.

"Where did he go...?" Elvis thought as he left the room and headed out. On his way through the corridors, he met with the guards whom he had asked to keep Eden in the palace.

"Where is he? Where is the wizard of EL?" Elvis questioned.

The guards instantly went down on their knees and began pleading guilty.

"We’re sorry for our incompetence! Please punish us!"

Elvis was confused as he stared at them. "What are you talking about... where is he?" he demanded.

They hesitated before they informed him about how Eden managed to leave.

They couldn’t stop him since Prince Lysander claimed he was leaving with him, and they couldn’t go against the Prince as well.

"...and so we left him since he was with the Prince... but we haven’t seen him since then, even though Prince Lysander is back..."

"And we can’t question the Prince as well..."

They explained the situation to Elvis, and he could only stand there, feeling tensed up about the fact that Eden might have possibly escaped.

"How could you let that happen? I had a royal order... how can you overlook my royal order?" he questioned them, worked up about the fact before him.

The guards bowed down. "Please punish us, Your Royal Highness! We were careless!"

Elvis stood there. He paced around for a while, running his hands through his hair in frustration.

He couldn’t understand what he was feeling at the moment.

Panic.

But was it panic for the fact that the prisoner he had captured to benefit him in the long run had escaped?

Or was it panic that he had potentially lost someone he had strangely grown a sort of attachment to?

He couldn’t tell.
