Chapter 26: I’ll Protect Him

Chapter 26: 26: I’ll Protect Him

Eden gasped. The loud burst of the door that tore open and the marching of the guards into the room left, all left him destabilised.

He stepped backwards. His heart pounding as he stared at the swords pointed at him from the guards.

It was over for him. He was never escaping them.

That was exactly what he thought before Elvis immediately walked past him from the back.

Elvis came from the back. And now stood in front of him. His sword raised.

And for the first time, not at him. But his sword was raised at the guards that gathered Eden.

"Put down your swords" Elvis commanded "Retreat this instant"

The guards were beyond shocked. They stared at each other, wondering why the crown prince was taking the stand he was taking.

"Didn’t you hear me? Wasn’t I loud enough?" He repeated.

And so, the guards slowly began putting their swords on their sides. But that was until the King and others approached.

The king walked to the front "And what the hell is happening here?"

King Edward looked around "Why aren’t hell aren’t you taking them down?"

The guards looked at each other. Their swords are still down.

The king glared at Elvis "What the hell do you think you’re doing?"

"I ordered them to retreat. Stay away from him"

"What?" The king was stunned. "What the hell did you just say?"

"Stay away from him" Elvis repeated.

"Are you protecting.. him right now?" The king was beyond speechless.

"Maybe I am. Maybe I’m not. But what matters now is that no one is allowed to lay a single finger on him" Elvis announced.

"And what if we do? What are you going to do you useless thing!" The king roared.

"If you want to harm him, then you’ll have to come at me first. You’ll have to face me first. And over my dead body will I let you harm him. So don’t blame me if any lives are lost in the process"

The nobles at the side who witnessed this all gasped in shock. They couldn’t believe that Elvis was openly protecting Eden now. And he was bold about it.

Even Eden was stunned. He didn’t expect Elvis to suddenly step in. And he didn’t expect him to go this extreme with his words in protecting him.

For a while there, it felt as though he was the female lead in this story or something.

But on the other hand, it left Eden feeling like it was either Elvis was given in to his threats and protected him to save his loved ones.

Or he too had a plot of his own through all this.

"You bastard..." The King staggered as the second Queen rushed to hold onto him "How dare you speak in such a manner. How dare you side with that enemy!"

Elvis said nothing. His sword, still up.

"I’ll give you one last chance to come back to your senses. Or don’t blame me for what happens after. Put down your sword and get away from that wizard!" The king ordered.

"I’m sorry father. But that is one thing I can’t do" Elvis stood his grounds "If you want to get him. Then come at me first"

The king gasped "You fool. Then don’t blame me for being extreme"

King Edward turned to the guards "Take down that wizard. Take him down by all means. And whoever tries stopping you, no matter who they are, take them down as well"

The King ordered. It was an order from the king, so no one dared question his words.

The guards pulled out their swords and positioned themselves for an attack against the Crown prince.

Elvis on the other hand didn’t back down either. He had his sword positioned as well. His expression, cold. He was clearly ready to take them all down.

And he didn’t seem like he was backing down anytime soon.

Even Eden got worried. He couldn’t believe Elvis was going to go that far - even though he asked him to do so.

He was going against his father and was potentially going to shed some blood because of him.

Eden didn’t know how to feel about that. But if one thing was for sure, it was the fact that he felt a female lead in this book!

The guards were set. Slowly taking steps towards Elvis to finally strike.

"Stop this instant!"

But then someone yelled from behind as they all turned to see The Imperial Princess Cordelia walk in.

They gave way for her while bowing in respect to the imperial princess.

Cordelia made her way to the front as she stared at Elvis. And then looked at the guards and the king.

"Your Imperial Highness, It’s too dangerous here. You can’t be here..." The King tried talking to her.

"What do you all think you’re doing?" She questioned them all, including the King.

"Well..." The King looked around. He didn’t wish to tell her that they were trying to attack the crown prince whom she was obsessed with.

"Were you trying to harm Elvis right now?" Cordelia questioned The King.

"Well that’s not it. He’s being stubborn over there so we’re trying to get him away from that wizard" The King explained.

Cordelia glared at King Edward and then at the guards who had their swords out.

"With those Sharp swords? How can you even think about doing that to your son and to my future husband? The audacity!"

Cordelia was pissed "I swear if anything happens to him. If I see any bruise or a single mark on him, I’ll make sure I make every single one here pay. Even you" she glared at the king.

It was an imperial order from The princess. So no one dared stop her. They all just stood there staring as the guards slowly took down their swords.

Eden peeped from behind Elvis, watching his ass get saved by Cordelia indirectly.

Someone he was sure he was going to have a long beef and feud with throughout this book now.

Because from now onwards, the two of them were potentially going to be fighting over Elvis.
