Chapter 595: Do Not Read
Chapter 165
The world, every world, works on strict rules. One can’t just become all-powerful overnight without a reason. There has to be a reason for everything. Everything works on certain set rules.
One such rule was that some things belong to certain fixed places. They can never leave those places or else they would incur heavy punishments.
For example, a soul belonging to the world ’A’ cannot exist in the world ’B’. Let’s say the world ’A’ in my case, was my world, the original earth, and the world ’B’ would be the one I was currently living in a painful life.
In simpler words, I don’t belong here. I can’t be here but just like a clever lawyer can make a public incident to be incurred by someone else, not the defendant, just like that, these rules also have loopholes.
I can live in this world, as long as I wasn’t completely not from this world. Had I reincarnated or reborn like sh*t, with still my soul, I would have been erased because I wasn’t supposed to exist here. Even that only worked if one had died in their previous world. If one was alive like me, reincarnation or being reborn would do jack sh*t.
But what if my soul was suppressed by a lot and then put into a body that belonged to this world?
A body that matched my characteristics perfectly. No mana. I couldn’t wield mana in any sort of world, and that made Adrian’s body, the most compatible body for my transmigration. Now my soul was clinging to this body while the time was trying to rip me away from this body.
Look at it like this, a person’s hands are stuck in a rock mountain. Someone comes along and grabs the man by the legs and pulls the stuck person to separate him from the mountain but he fails to notice that the person is deeply embedded into the wall. There was no use in doing this but he does it anyway.
What would happen to the person in this scenario? The answer was, that he would be ripped apart. Now the rock mountain was this body, Adrian’s body, to which, my soul was stuck, mended like an inseparable parasite, and finally, the man pulling at me was time.
What would happen then? My soul would taste a hell of a pain. The pain was so unimaginable that the earlier pain or any pain that I had experienced before, made it look like falling off the bed. This one was comparable to jumping off a plane without a parachute and the surface, the ground was filled with thorny rocks.
My mind wouldn’t lose it; it was too strong for that but that only increased the pain once again. I never wanted to go vegetable so bad in my life than right now but like I said, too strong of a mind. A blessing or a curse, I still ask myself that question every day.
Finally, what felt like an eternity to me, was just two or three seconds max in reality. Time passes quickly, it cannot remain in one place for a long time. Still, the pain I felt was enough to make me want to ask god for forgiveness nonstop.
Time was very harsh as I have experienced firsthand four times myself. Time didn’t make any concessions, even to the people who managed to obtain and wield its power. That’s why any power related to time came with heavy restrictions, the most common of which was aging.
Anyway, as I lay there in pain and anguish, phantom pain in medical terms, I couldn’t help but gasp for air hungrily since it was almost knocked out of me. As I sat there and reveled in the pain that had passed but left deep marks on every part of my soul, I examined the changes in myself. I wasn’t dead so that was a blessing.
Fortunately, I was not damaged either. My soul damage was still at 55% and it hadn’t increased by even slightly. As I stared at the ceiling of the cave, a voice entered my ears.
[So?]
[How was the father-son bonding session?]
Despite the pain, and my current condition, I still replied, anger overflowing in my voice as I replied, "Bonding session my as*. He just handed me over to time."
[Did he?]
’What’s that supposed to mean?’ I asked because that was what literally had happened. Why would she even ask otherwise?
[No reason]
Now there was something fishy going on there but she wasn’t telling me and the fact that she was here, meant my father was gone as well. I didn’t have the mental capacity to pursue this issue and I couldn’t help but just be glad that I only faced pain, nothing permanent.
Even anything temporary in my current condition would be too much for me. My eyelids felt heavy and my surroundings began to grow dim. I knew that I was on a strict time limit, but right then and there, I wanted to do nothing more than just close my eyes and surrender myself to the world of dreams. Everything else came afterward.
=====
[You have defeated the demon knight Kasgharus]
[You have obtained ’Kasgharus’s legacy’]
[You have obtained an original achievement]
[Achievement: Eraser and filler]
[You are someone who has done something only seen once before. In the old times when the dragon knight, the deranged prince, the heir of madness, and the cherisher of blood has done before
You have changed a timeline while keeping the timeline intact. You haven’t created a parallel universe but made the time fill the hole in reality.
For such a massive achievement, a great reward is compulsory, no, it is your right.
Effect: You will no longer be affected by the effects of time]
My eyes widened to the point they couldn’t anymore and I had just woken up when this notification was before me.
I now understood what Allison meant earlier. My dad hadn’t given me time for no reason at all, he had done so to divert his attention from splitting the timelines. This wasn’t a small change like saving Asmara that didn’t warrant any parallel timeline. This event was massive even though I didn’t know anything about it and the creation of a parallel reality was imminent. Unless the attention of the time was averted somewhere else. To me.
Luckily, that came with a boon of its own. For some reason, I became resistant to time-based effects. Just like the earlier effect provided by my father, the skill called ’Time reversal’. I was with my dad so I didn’t feel it but everyone else out there did. And even I would have had I not been shielded by my father. That’s how dangerous time was.
Entire memories, feelings, and everything along with it were gone with just a simple skill and no one could do anything about it. Even those who wielded the power of time weren’t impervious to this effect. Even I wasn’t, not until now that was.
Under the blessing of this achievement that I somehow gained due to my father’s involvement, I was now resistant to such effects.
Ignoring the useless thoughts that had no use right now, I continued to monitor the still-incoming notification that flooded my vision.
[You have defeated one of the ten overlords]
[Additional reward would be given]
[All rewards would be increased by 10%]
[You have defeated an A+ rank enemy]
[You have obtained 1,000,000 EXP]
[Additional ten percent EXP would be granted]
[You have obtained 100,000 EXP]
[You have obtained 1,000,000 coins]
[Additional ten percent coins would be granted]
[You have obtained 100,000 coins]
[You have obtained 11 A+ rank dark crystals]
[You have obtained armor of despair]
[You have obtained the skill book, ’Dark Enhancement’]
[Level up]
[Level up]
[.....]
[...]
[You are now level 271]
[EXP 7,600\210,000]
My level was raised by seven. It seemed like hunting A rank monster was less effective now than before. However, I couldn’t complain, soon, even earning millions of EXP would do nothing. Not until I reached level 300 anyway and even then, there was no guarantee that the EXP meter would reset.
Done with being happy and not so happy, I stood up, my body cracked with every movement of my joints as I felt tired as hell. I still straightened myself and asked Allison, "How long was I out?"
[Seventeen hours] Allison replied.
Damn. How would I explain this? I said that I would take at most twelve hours to clear this dungeon but I had been here for nineteen hours already. I wanted to go out and tell the people outside not to worry but that would waste time. And given the impressive effect of this armor only lasts for five minutes, for now, I was going to sweep through the second floor at a breakneck speed never seen before.
I saw the armor’s cool down was over and I stepped forward towards the stairs that went down to the second floor of the dungeon.
Let’s get this over with.
