Chapter 64: Alpha Liandria
Alana🌸;
I watch silently as Alpha Rhydian carries Master Elián in his arms.
It’s a shocking sight, really. All the men on this trip have been whispering about it.
The cruel Alpha Rhydian. Being so delicate with Elián and attentive to his needs. It’s a sight I never thought I’d see.
Something has changed in Alpha Rhydian, and as much as I want to celebrate this... I can’t. Because of where we’ve just set foot.
His mother’s territory. People may think that Alpha Rhydian’s hate for Omegas is random... but it’s not. This... heartless, proud woman named Alpha Liandria drilled hate for my kind into Alpha Rhydian’s heart.
She can not stand the sight, smell or thought of us. I do not know why. All I know is that if she had the chance, she would wipe out all Omegas. That is obvious in the way Omegas are treated in Howleroot.
We may be rare and very few in BeastHeaven, but the handful of omegas in this blasted place have the worst luck in the entire kingdom.
All because their Luna believes our kind is unworthy. Filthy...
That is exactly what worries me now that Alpha Rhydian is so casually carrying Master Elián into his mother’s castle.
I thought he would have handed him over to one of the guards by now, but he didn’t. What’s going on in his head??
What was King Wilhelm thinking when he sent Master Elián to this place??
I’m worried, and I can barely hide it.
We finally get into the castle, and I freeze when Alpha Liandria’s voice slices through the silence.
"What is that?" I look up and find her at the top of the stairs, which has a navy blue rug running down the middle of it.
This entire palace has a blue theme. The signature colour of Howleroot. And there, at the top of the stairs, is the arrogant mother of this pack.
Alpha Rhydian’s mother. Dresses in an elaborate blue dress that seems fitting for a ceremony, but with her extravagant nature, of course, she’ll wear this on a casual day. Her creamy chocolate skin glows under the morning sun as her long, wavy grey hair travels flawlessly past her waist and over her shoulders.
Alpha Rhydian goes down on one knee as he bows to his mother.
"Good morning, Mother." He greets, and she slowly begins to descend the stairs with her eyes fixed on Master Elian. All of us around go down on our knees to bow to her, and I make sure to keep my gaze low.
In the entire group of workers, I’m the only omega. An easy target if I do the slightest thing to piss her off.
"Good morning, son. What is that in your hands?" Her terrifyingly gentle voice questions, and Alpha Rhydian slowly stands up.
"He’s an Omega." He replies, and I shut my eyes.
An Omega?
No, Alpha. He’s your Omega. Tell her.
"An Omega?" She questions, and through my lashes, I see that she’s already just a few steps away from him.
"Yes, Mother."
"He’s not yours?"
"He... belongs to my brothers." Alpha Rhydian replies hesitantly, and Alpha Liandria replies with a disgusted scoff.
"Brothers? I only have one son, Rhydian." She replies, and I roll my eyes.
"He... Belongs to Father’s other sons." Alpha Rhydian replies, and my heart aches for him.
This woman... This problematic, egocentric woman, whom I believe is one of the biggest mistakes King Wilhelm made. She’s the reason why Alpha Rhydian never had the opportunity to properly bond with his brothers.
All the brothers are not exactly close, but... they somewhat try.
Alpha Koda behaves like the older brother he is. He’s always trying to pull everyone together and make sure it doesn’t feel like they are stepbrothers. However, because of Alpha Liandrian’s imposing beliefs and words, Alpha Rhydian always tries to keep his distance.
She treats him like an asset and doesn’t let him feel the warmth of his family when he’s back home. She’s a cage around him. A cage I wish he would someday be rid of... even if I don’t know how.
I know all this because I may look naive, innocent, and oblivious... but I’m a rabbit. I survive by paying attention to everything. That nature of mine is exactly why I know Elian being here is a danger to him.
King Wilhelm is up to something. That’s why he sent Master Elian here... and that makes me question the accident that happened with the scorpion.
King Wilhelm wouldn’t... plan such... would he?? I’m thinking things too far, yeah?
"Why is he with you?" Alpha Liandria’s voice crashes into my thoughts, and once again, I look up at her through my lashes.
"Erm... Father insisted that I bring him along." Alpha Rhydian replies, and Alpha Liandrian’s face crunches in disapproval.
"That Father of yours seems to have a knack for horrible decisions." She says with a wave of the hand, and I roll my eyes.
I actually agree with her. One of those horrible decisions was marrying this woman when he could have just married her Omega brother instead.
"Why is he in your arms, though?" She pushes, and Alpha Rhydian hesitates.
"He’s..."
"Actually, it’s unimportant." She suddenly cuts him off, and I raise a brow.
"Give him to one of your guards, and go take a bath. You reek of his filthy scent. Once you’re done, come to my garden. I have a surprise for you. I’ve been waiting for so long! It’s the answer to our prayers!!" She replies, and my heart skips a beat.
Answer to their prayers?
The only prayer this woman has is for Alpha Rhydian to be the next king after King Wilhelm.
That can only happen if Alpha Rhydian gives the king an heir before any of his brothers. But Alpha Liandria doesn’t want Alpha Rhydian to have a child with an Omega.
She’s infatuated with the idea of having a pure Alpha grandchild. Which is highly impossible. She could only give birth as an Alpha because she is a woman.
And... female Alphas are just as rare as female omegas...
What is this woman up to??
Has she found an Alpha for Alpha Rhydian??
Oh no. If she has... it’ll be very bad for Master Elian.
If she’s found an Alpha for him, then Master Elian’s place at Ashfang Empire will be over before it’s even begun...
