Chapter 176: 176: On Your Back.
"What are you doing, you mad man!" Leo yelled in terror as Eden glued himself to his back.
Eden still had his hands on his hair, pulling his hair hard with one hand while covering his eyes with the other.
"Let go this instant! I order you!" Leo cried. "Don’t you know who you’re messing with?!"
He was now fighting to throw off Eden who clung to him, but to no avail. Eden was firm at his back.
And Leo wasn’t too strong in terms of strength and skills. He wasn’t a fighter and didn’t have the tactics or strength to throw Eden off. So he found it hard.
Eden held tight, tormenting Leo from his back, pulling his hair while covering his eyes.
Damien stood there, watching in terror. His mouth and eyes left open in shock.
The guards were also in the same situation, watching in shock.
None of them knew what they were to do at that moment.
"Shouldn’t we stop it..?" one of the guards asked. "I think we should save the lord..."
"I don’t even know how to..." another said, shaking his head. They all watched for the moment.
Leo was still battling for his life as Eden held him firmly. "I won’t be letting go unless you promise to set me free!"
"In your dreams! Your head will be mine as soon as I’m free from your devious grip, you monster!" Leo was still fighting for his freedom.
Eden held him tightly. "Then I guess I’m not letting go of you anytime soon!"
"Let go!"
"Promise to let go without killing me first!"
"Never! You monster! You will be tortured and die a painful death!"
"Then I won’t let go!" Eden was holding on firmly.
They continued like that for what seemed like minutes. Eden pulling his hair while covering his eyes and gluing himself to Leo, while Leo struggled to set himself free from the torture.
"I’ll surely have your head for this disrespect..." Leo muttered, struggling to get a hold of Eden behind him.
"And you fools! What do you think you’re doing?! Save me now!" Leo recalled that the guards were there.
"Oh!" The guards nodded as they attacked.
They were pulling closer with their swords and spears to fight Eden off their master like a mosquito.
Eden saw them. "Stay away!" he warned, his hands still on Leo’s hair and eyes. "Or I’ll kill him!"
The guards stopped.
Eden wanted to make it more convincing. So at least he needed to get a weapon which he wasn’t with. So he decided to use magic.
Praying to the heavens in his mind, he cast a spell to summon a dagger in his hands to use and threaten the guards with.
But as he cast the spell, a thin long loaf of bread appeared in his hand.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"....."
Everyone blinked while staring at the bread in Eden’s hands.
Eden sighed. "Damn it."
He glared at them. "If you come closer, I’ll disappear with him and I’ll take him to the land of the dead!" he threatened. "Don’t even try me!"
"Let go, you mad thing!" Leo was now getting an upper hand. He was now slowly setting himself free from Eden’s grip.
And Eden on the other hand knew Leo was slipping away soon. He needed to get a backup.
He swung the loaf of bread in their direction. "Don’t come close or I’ll leave it at him!"
The guards stood. They believed Eden could do it since he was a wizard. So they didn’t want to risk the life of their master.
But they didn’t know that Eden wasn’t even sure of his own powers. Eden couldn’t predict where he’d go if he used that. He might end up in hellfire for real.
And just then he recalled that he had two backup plans.
Felix and Lenny.
"The flute thing..." Eden muttered as he subconsciously let go of Leo’s eyes to grab the flute on his neck.
But Leo had gotten an opportunity with that. And as Eden blew the flute, Leo was able to break free from his grip.
Leo broke free from Eden’s grip and Eden found himself falling down from Leo’s back.
And so he fell hard on his back this time around.
"Ouch." He couldn’t feel his waist anymore. He lay there on the floor as he muttered, "Lenny, now."
He just knew he had to freaking tell Lenny not to only come and help when he’s being summoned.
Leo, now standing freely, adjusted his clothes. He cast a cold glare at his guards who didn’t even come to help him in his time of ambush. "You useless things. What are you even being paid for?"
He now turned to look at Eden who was now on the floor. "And you mad little thing. Done having fun?"
Eden panted, still in pain. "No. Will you let me off now?"
"In your dreams. I warned you, and now you’ll have to face the consequences of your stupidity." Leo stretched out his hands.
Damien rushed and handed him his sword. Leo held it tightly as he glared at Eden who was still on the floor, in pain.
Leo raised his sword, ready to take Eden’s head with it.
And Eden panicked but could only shut his eyes as thoughts ran through his head.
He couldn’t die now, and he knew it. But at the same time, he wasn’t even sure of his powers at this point.
He didn’t know where it’d take him if he wanted to teleport. But at the same time, Eden figured it was better than being here.
He had blown the flute and summoned Lenny. But there was no sign of any of them. So he knew he had to rely on himself to escape.
And so he had concluded on making sure of his powers anyway. Even if it took him to the underworld or to Plato, he figured it was far better than dying in the cruel hands of this scholarly lunatic.
